DSSWH is supporting a recall of oysters harvested in the Little Wicomico River starting on September 18, 2026 through October 8, 2026, by Little Wicomico Oyster Company VA-1421-SP. Little Wicomico Oyster Company VA-1421-SP has contacted their customers who received the affected oysters and has instructed them to follow their recall protocols. While this is a voluntary recall, immediate action is required.<\/p>\n<p>Affected oysters were distributed to CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NV, NY, PA, VA, and TX.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Receiving State IMMEDIATE Actions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receiving states should take the following immediate actions:<br \/>\n1. Verify companies in your state have received a recall notice from Little Wicomico Oyster Company VA-1421-SP.<br \/>\n2. Verify companies in your state have ceased sale, service, and distribution of the affected oysters.<br \/>\n3. Verify disposal or return of all affected oysters (containers or prepped for service) which remain in inventory.<br \/>\n4. Verify downstream customers who may have received affected oysters have been alerted.<br \/>\n5. Report recall updates to the producing Authority, DSSWH.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Affected Shellfish Information &amp; Distribution Detail<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Shellfish Product: Shellstock oysters<br \/>\n\u2022 Harvest Date: September 18, 2026, through and October 8, 2026<br \/>\n\u2022 Harvest Location: Little Wicomico River, VA or Little Wicomico River Lower, VA<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reason for Recall<\/strong><br \/>\nThis recall is due to the outbreak declared by Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture after an epidemiological association was made between the individuals infected with Salmonella Telelkebir and consumption of oysters harvested in the Little Wicomico River and Little Wicomico River Lower, VA by Little Wicomico River Oyster Co VA-1421-SP.
